RESOLUTIONS
MTTs: How many online MTTs I play depends on something kinda outside of my control, as does how many live MTTs, but at the moment I’m not overly motivated. I guess goal-wise I’d be content if I can not start to suck while not having to play too many.
Get off my 45 live MTT non-cashing streak
PLO: play a bunch(by my definition) get good enough where I can play nosebleeds comfortably if there are any soft-spots
Mixed games: Continue improving at all mixed games, there’s pretty clearly not as much money as in PLO, but by the time I’m 21 I want to scoop up a lot of ridiculous bracelets, get to the point where in just about every game I can understand where my profit comes, and be able to determine which things my opponents do are good/bad
Athletic:
Run a marathon- Meant to run a 1/2 marathon at some point this year, but it got cold too quickly, I definitely could run a 1/2 right now, but haven’t. I don’t have any time related goals for this, if I run one and enjoy the training/race, maybe I’ll have a time goal for next year.
Bench/Squat/Deadlift 225/300/400- I guess these are kinda arbitrary numbers and I have no idea what are reasonable gains, just going by people in H&F’s goals who are about where I am right now
Get competent at Olympic lifting – I have really inflexible elbows, gotta do more Yoga/start foam rolling or something
Get into BJJ – My lifetime fight record went from 2-0(thanks Dan and Tufat) to 2-3 this Festivus, want to get back above 500
Play more volleyball- I played way too much in high school and decided I didn’t really want to play more after that, so took a few years off. I’ve been getting back into it the last few months and enjoying it, I don’t really have any measurable goals regarding this
Life:
Eat better, cook a wider variety of meals- I don’t eat enough vegetables, and suck at cooking, want to change this
Drink healthier- a week or two ago I decided I’m not going to ever use a mixer that I wouldn’t have drank on its own(ie. no more rum and cokes etc), gonna try to stick to this as long as possible, and also just drink less
Get better at getting stuff done- Still don’t have a car, just need to be more pro-active
Read more- I’ve read a lot more this year than previous years, but I’d like to read a few good books a month
Possible goals:
Learn to play an instrument- the more music I listen to, the more I think it would be cool to learn to play music/understand music better/ potentially join a band
1. Make 100k. Yes this goal is somewhat unrealistic, but I dont see anything wrong with setting my goals high. Its not like i’m going to sit down at 25/50 with a 20k roll on december 21st 2009 in hopes of making a quick 80k to achieve my goal.
2. Exercise regularly. Since my life is pretty stagnant and unhealthy at the moment, I’m going to make an effort to exercise for 15 minutes minimum a day. Also throughout 2008, I felt like I played my best when I was working out regularly.
3. Eat cleaner. I almost always eat junk food. My regular day for food looks like this: Lunch, eat a hoagie from WaWa with coke and chips. Dinner, Eat subway with coke. Latenight meal, i used to eat super unhealthy and I would make my dad bring me some fast food from when he got back from work. Lately though I am eating a grilled chicken ceasar salad with fruit and water. This year I am going to make an effort to eat healthy. Im hoping that my meal plan will look something like this: Lunch, eat a chicken ceasar salad from WaWa with a cup of fruit and bottled water. Dinner: eat chicken with broccolii chinese food, steamed with no sauce, also a cup of fruit with bottled water. Latenight meal, grilled chicken ceasar salad with a cup of fruit and bottled water. Hopefully I can keep this up without losing weight, i tend to lose weight if i dont eat 3 super big meals a day, I must have a good metabolism.
4. Get a better sleep schedule. If you read my last post, you all would know that I am extremely lazy. That applies to my sleep schedule was well. I tend to sleep for 10-12 hours a day, sometimes I sleep till as late as 5 pm. I’m going to start going to sleep around 12-1 and get up at around 10.
5. Go back to school. As you all know the past 2 1/2 years, Ive only gotten 4 classes done for college, something I am not very proud of. I am going to take 2 classes this semester, only reason I am not going full time is because I have been out of school for a while, so I dont want to get overwhelmed right off the bat. I’m going to take things easy and just focus hard on these two classes, and then come fall time I will go back to school full time. I also might take a class or two over the summer.
