SPORTS GALORE

January 3, 2009 by mfw1

Well it is nice to blog batting 3 for 3 in the new year and I am happy to say things have been going well so far and I have been sticking to all my goals so far.  Still a ton of work to do and a lot of concerns to take care of which will plays themselves out right before our eyes in words and action.  Well I obviously suck at sports betting but thats okay.  I am working hard to get good and things will turn around soon.  I also started off very hot and will get back to those winning ways.  So the consensus theory seems like it starts off pointing to the non-public favorite.  Well for our pick for today we look at the consensus pick again (see previous post to read about the consensus theory) and as ugly as it is getting the public record.:

My public blog record so far:

W/L (Wins/Loses) 5 – 6 R/R (Risk/Reward Ratio) 12.78/11.55 Total Winnings -1

The consensus pick is the Indianapolis Colts at -1

NEXT GAME – Saturday Jan. 3, 2009
Matchup             Current Line/Total        Time
Indianapolis Colts     -1                          8:00 PM
San Diego Chargers     50.0

I also say pick the Falcons at -2.5.  So were picking the Falcons by -2.5 and the colts by -1.  If I get crushed I will move back to hockey as I was crushing when that was the focus of my early public picks.  Two picks for today to try and swing the public record into the positive.  Now for a few quick sports rants.

First diving in soccer should be banned.  In no American sport is diving allowed nor is it accepted or encouraged.  As a matter fact it is looked down upon and considered inappropriate.  Well soccer around the world seems to embrace or at the very least tolerate diving.  This is garbage and doing away with this would go along way in improving the sport.  Stop the phantom tackles that result in minutes of rolling around and looking like a bunch of phish out of the water that is respectable sports.  The best is when they cry and roll and grab and then seconds later are running and moving like a phuking Olympic athlete.  Stop the diving in soccer (or football if you want to call it that but I can assure in America no one is allowed to fake injuries or cry like they shot themselves like Plaxico without facing the wrath of fair and legitimate competition and the embarrassment of the media).  How to stop diving.  Harsher penalties (like automatic red cards) and review previous game tapes for blatant violations and issue multi game suspensions.

Now on to all this whining that is about the salary cap in baseball and how the Yankees are playing unfair and spending too much money.  First I think this is America where you should be able to spend your money any way you want as long it is legal (last time I checked hiring people for private companies and paying them whatever the boss likes is not and never will be illegal in America).  Second think if in America we stopped a company from progressing because we thought it was getting too good?  This is anti American (and yes I know about monopolies but comparing a baseball team with a lot of high priced talent that has not done or proven anything amongst 20 + companies that are doing just fine and actually profiting a lot off the 1 single company is a hard compare to a monopoly rather yet make that impossible).  Third since when in baseball did paying people a lot of money and having the “best talent” guarantee success or World Series rings.  As a matter of fact baseball is the one sport where it is most often seen that the team that was least expected or with very low payrolls are actually the teams that do the best.  So stop crying about salary caps in sports (I think they actually ruin them) and stop worrying about the Yankees and what they are doing.  I promise and yes you heard it hear first THEY WILL NOT WIN THE WORLD SERIES NEXT YEAR so who cares how much money they spend.

Finally with the power of these teams to spend all this money I want to say stop paying these guys so much money to do the things they do.  First how do these people work in a business where you can get paid millions and millions of dollars a year to not work.  There must be a better way and better place to spend or put that money.  Also 20 million a year to hit or pitch a baseball seems a bit excessive in todays times but hey what do I know.  Stephon Marbury can go jump in the LA river end rant.

Tried to throw down some more thoughts on charity below for my management book and look for excerpts from that book and as my tree of success keeps growing and I keep adding onto myself as well as the tree.

CHARITY

Charity is not always monetary giving and can come in many forms. If it is hours of our time, gifts of our wisdom or provision and access to resources charity is an important foundation to success. I hear all the time people state as the older they get the more they want to give. It is human nature to grow and be more successful (which occurs more often then not in humanity) and it is no coincidence the desire and ability to donate and promote charity heightens as success increases in our own personal and public lives. It is important to keep in mind that it is often hardest to give when we have little or nothing to share.

Reasons why charity contributes to success:

There is the feeling of compassion. It is a chance for humans to interact with humans in a time of struggle. It shows how working together and caring for other humans can translate into huge successes.

There is the presentation of positive opportunity. It is a chance for people to see how their own hard work can create a positive opportunity for somebody else. When our hard work means success regardless of our own personal definitions of success we learn there is a greater good in working for and helping others.

There is the understanding of sacrifice. Success does not come without sacrifice. Giving shows that sacrificing can move us in positive directions.

There is a chance for alternative situations. Charity teaches us to interact in social situations we might otherwise be unrelated or accustomed to. Success like charity requires us to move outside our comfort zones.

There is the realization that helping others actually helps ourselves. To be more successful we need to improve ourselves. We must also be growing, learning and improving. There seems to be a human consensus that giving to others actually gives even more to ourselves in life understanding and positive character enhancements. Making others successful makes ourselves successful and embracing this goes a long way in life.

Charitable things I am doing:

Once a month I try to look around the house and see what I do not need and gather a bag of donation items and give them to the Goodwill. I also run a small used book business that supports the Goodwill in many ways.

I judge and volunteer for the LMU business ethics fortnight and committee.

TWO FOR TWO

January 2, 2009 by mfw1

Well I am two for two on blogging in the new year and the heavy updates and new insights should be coming almost if not daily.  You have to love blogs that are updated frequently.  Well moving into the new year of course success is major focus and topic on all of our minds.  Well there many paths and definitions of success but there must be certain characteristics or traits we can develop and implement that will help guide and encourage our life success.  I have been trying to work on and utilize everyday a tree of success so far there are only a few branches and I am going slowly but surely to maintain a reasonable and maintainable rate of success.  I am also working on a visual version that should be up soon.  Below is what I have so far and what I have been concentrating on in the new year.  This will also be the beginning of a piece I hope to incorporate with my life management and success book I am working.

SUCCESS:

A key to remember when reviewing and implementing the below tree/plan/outline is that it takes patience and practice. It can be implemented and slowly and over time. It is a piece by piece by development process that will form into a complete package. It is a journey and not a race.

EXERCISE:

I have read many books on success and they often leave out exercise. I think exercise is one of the most important factors to life success.

Reasons why exercise contributes to success:

-There is the testing of limits. Diligent and effective exercise teaches and requires you to push yourself beyond comfort levels.

-There is the formation of structure. Diligent and effective exercise teaches and requires you to form a schedule and follow a plan.

-There is the conditioning of the physical body. Diligent and effective exercise teaches and requires you to improve and maintain more empowered physical conditioning allowing for a higher level of life performance when facing physical demands.

-There is the building of positive results. Diligent and effective exercise teaches and requires you to reach for and gain positive results thus increasing the understanding of what it takes to move in positive directions. I have not seen a scientific study or written article claiming that exercise when done right has a negative impact on human existence.

-There is the improvement of health. If you are not healthy it becomes hard to enjoy anything in life.

What exercises I incorporate in my life:

There should never be a reason or excuse why we can all not take a little time each day to do some form of exercising. Exercising can be free, quick and done in a variety of places and ways.

Stretching:

Stretching is a great form of exercise and something very easy to do and that can be done everywhere. Tips I have learned about stretching are to do it very slow. Do not bounce. The movements should be calculated and controlled. You should feel the burn/work without ever jeopardizing straining a body part. Each stretch try to clear your mind, focus on the specific task and maintain balance and control. Push yourself to stretch farther within your limits. Monitor your progress and consistently stretching everyday for a month or two should reveal significant progress.

Stretches I am doing:

Toe Touches – Sitting and standing. Either sit or stand and slowly try to touch your toes. Stretch as far as your body will allow. Do this four times a day for 8-12 seconds per time/stretch.

Well since I have been stinking it up in sports betting in my public record which now stands at even:

W/L (Wins/Loses) 5 – 5 R/R (Risk/Reward Ratio) 11.68/10.55 Total Winnings 0

I am also now writing sort of a beginners guide and sports betting theory book and here is a piece of the introduction with a simple theory to follow and an excerpt of the book.  As I just started tracking this theory I will hopefully be posting the pick daily and tracking it in a spreadsheet (if anyone wants it).  We will also make it my pick of the day for today since obviously my sports betting factor model needs tweaking (see past post).  So here it is:
PICK:

DATE        GAME/PICK                    RISK    REWARD
1/2/2008    Texas Tech (-3.5/-110)    1.1    1

I love to gamble. My favorite type of gambling is on sports. Sports can at times be life’s shadow. This is an American pastime. Forget statistics but taking a poll of my male friends (and this is a biased bunch) ALL of them wager or have wagered on sports. It might be once a day, more likely a few times a year, possibly once in their lives but amazingly and addmitingly this is a true fact. Sports betting is alive and well in America. Statistics or not (don’t make me fetch them) it is almost undeniable that sports betting is prevalent in the world. Sports betting can provide all the provocative allure of a new love interest while constantly reminding us of the harsh realities of life. It’s sometimes like being in a womb where everything feels so nice but you just know you have to come out sometime from that beautiful hole to see some fucked up shit. Regardless and aside from my personal thoughts sports betting is a long standing global tradition among humans that will never die as long as competition exists.

For centuries people have wagered on the outcome of sporting events both for pleasure and profit. Sports are entertaining, unpredictable and like buying stock, placing a sports bet with little information allows the money risk to hover around 50-50 with a cost associated with the risk. Betting on sports or buying a stock without doing research is essentially like flipping a coin for the same amount of money. The winning or losing result is predicated by an unknown future event.

EVERY SPORTS BET MEANS SOMETHING:

THE CONSENSUS THEORY:

Sports often mimics life. Important to the foundation of America and the basis of many a rule consensus is a tool coveted by many. There is no reason why we should not take advantage of this when making sports bets. As I have always maintained the beauty of sports betting is it either goes one way or the other. For life’s decisions the consensus is usually followed until a new consensus or overpowering smaller entity is formed to prove otherwise. As is our choice however we can go against the wind. The question is can the people be right? The best way to determine this is to form a method of tracking in a reasonable manner how well betting with the consensus fairs. This is also a useful tool that allows us to aggregate and utilize the brains and work of hundreds if not thousands of other people with very little effort. Using this theory/method is a great introduction into the world of sports but also something that should be being tracked and used by seasoned professionals as well. If you do not believe the people are right then simply just use the same method and bet against it.

How I implement the consensus theory. The first goal is to find reliable and trustworthy consensus sources. This will allow us to research what the general public is thinking and also to formulate some type of patterned consensus research.

The first place I start is www.vegasinsider.com. On the middle right hand side of the home page they have something called “TODAY’S TOP BETTING TRENDS” [provided by www.sportsbook.com]. I then open also the website www.wagerline.com. On the middle right hand side of the home page they have something called “TOP CONSENSUS PICKS”. I cross compare the two sources and what ever game/pick is matched highest across sites is the game that is the consensus or bet of the day for this theory/play. I am looking for a third source to use when cross comparing and will update the equation when I decide on something I like. I think three sources will allow for a diversification of biased risk analysis and should provide a clear example of the consensus across the days wagers.

Also please remember to read past posts and check out all the cool pages I am working.  Let me know if there is anything you would like to see more off and I always love to hear from my readers.  Holla if you need anything as some more goods are coming soon!

2009 TIME TO SHINE

January 2, 2009 by mfw1

Well it is the new and we can only hope and strive that things go better and we get better.  I never really make any resolutions so to speak because I know life will somehow change the my ability to carry them out.  I must focus on the here and now and get stronger and more successful by the moment.  One thing we can be assure of his the blog will get bigger and badder.  Crazier and an improved read.  More updates.  More content.  More ideas.  More degeneracy.  Well today is a heck of  a sports day and the Rose Bowl should be amazing this year.  USC was favored by 10 last time I checked but I think Penn State will cover.  So in the new year I would like to eat healthier and at the grocery store the other day the same thought I think of often was highlighted in the champagne section.

So after dropping some donations off at the goodwill (charity is high on the 2009 priority list) I went to the local vons grocery store (not my normal store) to pick up some bubbly and orange juice for new years eve as my wife suggested (This turned out to be a splendid idea as we got some great sparkly and had a blast).  I noticed about 70% of the champagne choices were on sale if you had what the grocery store considers a club card.  Well since this was not my normal shopping store I did not have the card.  Were talking savings of like $7.00 on a $14.99 bottle.  Almost like 50% off for just having some dumb card.   Needless to say I just went down the street to my local grocery store Ralphs and used their dumb card and got similar savings.  So this is the question.  How/Why are these cards worth so much savings and are savings in grocery stores really real or phantom?  First to get the card you can lie about your information, get the card in a few minutes if you really want to hassle with it and are essentially another annoying life nuance that you and the environment could most likely do with out.  First I think the cards are pointless.  At the very least make it all telephone number based which could essentially be no hassle and waste.  If the data is important than have a process that calls the given number and verifies/gathers the information (this seems needless as who thinks or wants the grocery store to have any information on them – I just can not think of any real advantage this gives a human).  I mean as a business in my neighborhood are you really going to charge me $7.00 for a $14 item just because I do not have a card which still to this day I have no idea what they do other then get me some random savings and this brings me to my next point.  Sometimes and on the surface it feels as if something awfully sneaky is going on with the savings.  Some logic.  Some things are on club card savings almost 100% pf the time.  Like gatorade for instance is always on sale at my local supermarket if you have the card.  Just about 365 days out of the year it is on sale.  How is it on sale if it is always priced this way.  Is’nt that called it costs this amount.  Sometime you find on sale or not the darn item cost the same or very close to it.  When it is on sale it costs $2.225 and when it is regular priced it is $2.35 (and some how the tag is claiming you are saving like $3.00).  They even try to use subliminal messages on our azz.  Like 10 for $10.  Some people dont know you can get 5 for $5.  They got them thinking about and buying ten.  I mean if we were being honest would’nt the sign read Gatorade a $1.00 a bottle.  Not buy 10 for $10.  Sometimes it just feels like the classic switcharoo.  Like lets say something really sells for a $1.00.  Well as a grocer I just mark it up to $2.00 then put it on sale for a $1.00 and watch my sales go up as humans are tricked into thinking they are getting a deal.  Regardless something seems fishy with supermarket pricing and I am surprised more people do not question the system and walk the path of blind lambs to the no card having high price gouging sales trickery slaughter.

Another business point that has crossed my mind often is how genius casino chips are.  Sometimes I sell some of the casino chips from the Los Angeles area because they have cool designs and people like to buy them.  I rarely if ever make money and more just do it for fun, to keep my business skills sharp, as a hobby and it is really not that inconvenient at all either and most importantly hopefully I bring a few smiles or gifts to the world.  Now I only sell the dollar chips and I have always though how sweet of a deal this is for the casino owner.  So I essentially go into his business pay a $1 for something that probably cost the company $.10 cents to make and I sell it and ship to someone in the uNited Kingdom never to be redeemed back for my dollar at the casino.  I make the casino owner .90 cents only for the simple reason that his business uses chips instead of dollars.  Sweet deal.

Well stay tuned as the blog will be heating up for 2009.  Lots of updates and buffoonery.  If anyone needs anything or wants to holla let me know.  Read past blogs as well because there are some gems.  Let me know what the world wants!

Peace and Regards

RAMBLINGS OF THE RUN BAD MAN

December 23, 2008 by mfw1

Well I often feel that if it was not for bad luck I would not have any luck at all.  If there is a way to run bad in life I will find it and take it to the next level.  After 30 years of a strong belief that this pattern would change I have come to the conclusion that it might not.  Life variance is a beast and I am probably on the middle ground of bad beats but they are constant and unrelenting.  My will to endure however up to this point seems very strong.  I always pray for a better today and a brighter tomorrow and will keep on keeping on.  Lately with little responsibility or places to be I have been hiding out in what I call the Mattcave (my house) and generally trying to protect myself from the constant bad beats of life.  Well yesterday I decided to venture out for various reasons and sure enough the bad beats picked up immediately where they had left off.  Life does not disappoint.  My ramblings.  The mission started at 3:00 pm on the westside of Los Angeles.

The main goal of this trip was to do many things X-mass for my family.  We first went to a store called game stop (a big video game store in California).  We wanted to pick up a few gifts for the nephews.  After not finding anything we liked or on their list we decided that the new  Shaun White snowboarding game would be a great gift in lieu of any previous thoughts.  The store was surprisingly not that crowded but still very holiday crowded.  So the game was on he shelf and we stand in line for about 20 minutes and finally it is our turn.  There is a couple at the cash register next to us and they are getting Shaun White as well.  They get the last one.  45 minutes wasted for nothing and we were so close to the game we could taste it.  Good game Matt and the first bad beat of course happens right out the gate.  Okay so leaving the store empty handed and heart broken is not so bad I guess.

The next stop is Toys R US to try get the game and a few other things.  Well this store is a mess.  There are so many people you can barely move.  The lines are like an hour long and it seems as if almost everything is sold out (whoever said the economy is slumping apparently has not been shopping at the Toys R US on the westide of LA.  So after navigating the many interesting and angry shoppers we had found a transformer we liked (check 1 off the list nephews wish list), we found a lego city toy (check two).  We searched for the board game operation forever and could not find it.  We finally gave up and stood in line.  We got the second to last Shaun White game (by a miracle) our two toys and were out.  We were tilted we could not find operation the board game but just chalked it up to another bad beat.  I mean how does Toys R US not have a board game that is like twenty years old.  Should’nt the holiday stock and sales numbers and planning be pretty good by now.  No wonder these companies are going out of business.  It is kinda of funny as a business thinker to see.  I mean I would see a section of toys (for instance these weird sports figure robot games) and there would not be one sold or even with the appearance of being looked at (I mean like 75 of these things).  Then I spoke with at least two other people by total coincidence that were looking for the board game operation and were unsuccessful as well.  And these companies wonder why they go out of business.  Well here is a tip for Toys R US.  If there is a game that has been around for twenty years and people want to buy it stock enough it in the space you are keeping a bunch of toys that even to the dumbest consumer are obviously not worth a business cent.  If a company who has been in the toy business for twenty years + and with thousands of employees cant get stuff like this right well its a wonder why they have been in business so long.  Maybe I am naive but running out of things like the board game operation (a very famous and long standing game) and Shaun White snowboarding (one of the hottest wii games out right now) must eventually be death to a company and certainly shows a sign of business incompetence (It is almost a sure bet that at some Toys R US in the US there are 100 Shaun White Games and 50 operation games and why or how they were not moved to the location that needed them is beyond me).  I also noticed another business dilemma that I though was kinda serious for Toy R US.  Now I used to own a business that did over 1/2 million in sales every year (I would consider this a very small business) and theft was one of our major issues.  I would estimate in my life from family, friends, business partners and employees that about $50,000 in cold hard cash has been stolen from me (probably underestimated and another thing I just chalk up to running bad in life).  The point is in all the shopping madness it seemed very easy to steal from Toys R US.  Although I would never steal and have tried very very hard to never ever ever steal anything from anyone in my life it was pretty obvious that during this holiday chaos it would be very easy to steal from this store.  We will look at one example and move on as this is not a pleasant subject.  Toys R US carries baseball cards.  Baseball cards are expensive and easy to sell.  They have boxes with 10 packs in them for $20.  The most expensive card in the box is in its own package.  The security bar is on the box and not the packs inside the box.  Walking out with these packs is as easy as stealing toys from a  baby.

Well since we could not find operation we decided Target would be our next best shot and was close so we rolled.  Once again a mess and a parking and shopping nightmare.  Once inside we planned on picking up a couple of household item we need but most importantly were on the hunt for operationthe board game.  We were getting a laundry basket, conditioner, some more toys etc.  Well amazingly enough we tracked down an employee and asked for operation.  They quickly said they were sold out (as if the question had been asked by a 100 other people).  We left without buying anything and not having operation cost target a bunch sales and money.  Why cant any company seem to stock operation.  The bad beats continue as well as my thoughts as how companies expect to survive by making seemingly glaring business mistakes that on the surface appear very easy to fix.  I mean with 100,000 employees and billions at risk you would think the ish would get done right.  So we are leaving the parking lot that looks like the show that happens when Britany Spears is shopping on rodeo and cars and people are flying everywhere.  So were leaving and someone is going to park in are spot which is about as rare as the crown jewels at the moment and there is a huge line of cars in front of us to get out that is not moving.  So some idiot lady pulls around the car waiting for our spot and pulls behind us to wait in the line that is not moving.  So now we can not get out to let the lday park.  The lady can not park to let the people behind her move all because some lady wanted to cut one car in line.  We waited and extra 5 minutes to get out and the bad beats continued.  Now too tired and run through the mill we decided to give up for the day and go grab  a quick cocktail and appetizer before picking up the kids.

So I suggest to my wife we go to a place right next to our house that she has never been (pretty rare and kind of special at this moment of ragged holiday shopping).  So first on the ride there we are both testy and she is driving like a total donkey.  I tell her its next to the place she got her only good tatoo (out of the three only one even looks like it was worth the money hassle and pain).  She knows exactly where I am talking about (she is very smart and has lived in the neighborhood for five years – the place is 1 minute drive from the house and she has been next door for an unforgettable life moment).  We quibble as she pretends and complains she does not know where she is going.  No big deal and these go along with the many small bad beats I take from her daily.  So we get inside and it is all good and better then expected.  We are relieved to relax and enjoy eachothers company.  Patron margarita for her and a bud light for me.  Veggie nachos for both of us to share and chicken tacos for her to enjoy.  Well first we do not think the bartender used Patron to make the margarita (common bar trick number one) and were tilted slightly.  The the nachos came out with chicken on them (I am vegetarian so this did not go well).  Everything was over priced and being the nice guy that I am I somehow wound up buying the owner of the bar a shot who in the end wound being a tool who could not run his business that well either.  Now I am running at about two bad beats per hour.  Can you imagine taking on average about 48 bad beats per day.  Welcome to my life.

Oh yeah I suck at sports betting because now my public record is even which in reality is losing.  Cant win at poker.  My family torches money like it grows on trees and all I can do is chill out an d run bad.  The beauty of it all is I dont care.  Would not change a thing and plan to run way good at some point.  Its all about being a good person, working hard and thnking smart.  I pray everyday and hope that all my readers run good in life.

Keep reading the blog as you know it is always crazy.  More updates coiming soon.  Read teh past ones as there are some gems.  And we will also start with some bold business moves.

This business gamble is for Jeff Bezos Onwer and Founder of Amazon.

Dear Jeff,

I have a business idea that would be very easy to implement, is cheap and profitable and something you most likely already have the frame work and resources for and would would work extremely well under your company beliefs and umbrella.  You pay me $50,000 in the first year to implement the idea and give me access to the resources I need.  I will guarantee you $250,000 in profit (money above and beyond cost) and another $250,000 in future business value.  If not the case I will give your $50,000 back and basically work for free for a year for you.  Of course willing to put it all in a contract /writing.  You have read this right people.  This is a $450,000 free roll for a man in America offered by me.  I’m a sick man and dead serious.

Holla at your boy.

A MILLION IDEAS

December 16, 2008 by mfw1

Well I am still sucking a little more at life then I would like.  It is not as bad as it was but it is not as good as it was.  I am stuck in a middle ground of degenerate trying.  Making solid attempts to reach for the stars all while falling as fast and hard as the stars sometimes do themselves when shooting.  Everyday is a struggle but also an opportunity to grow bigger and better and most importantly to learn and follow your hear.  My whole life for whatever reason business ideas are constantly running through my head.  Not only business ideas (they mostly dominate) but also just ideas in general.  My mind seems to build neighborhoods of creative thoughts.  I have always thought that 1 day 1 of the ideas would find a home and really resonate with the people.  Hopefully I could also find personal satisfaction in the idea and also would be glad if the idea took care of my family financially.  The beautiful part of this dream is that it is a living reality that surrounds me everyday.  I interact with hundreds of businesses and people that are doing exactly what I dream of doing.  Taking an idea or a skill and performing at a high level while enjoying themselves and providing for their families.  This hope does not seem as far off as becoming a professional athlete (almost impossible and I personally do not know one pro athlete) but as distant as hitting the daily three (hard but my step mom has done it a few times so it can be done).  Owning and running your own idea is a daunting task.  However this is a task many American perform on a daily basis regardless of struggle and my hat goes off to those that do so.  In my eyes they are in an ideal position as long as they are happy and taking care of their families (those are prerequisites).  I guess the point is that moving into the new year I hope all those out there pursuing similar dreams may they come true and all the success be bestowed upon my readers when attempting to realize your dreams in 2009.  Concluding I will share just a smidgen of the ideas that run the gamete and smorgasbord of my brain.

INTERNET IDEAS:

1.  We will call this company “bid me up”.  Essentially this company would focus on Ebay to start.  The idea behind this stems from the habit of constantly shopping for sports cards on Ebay for fun.  I know the market well and for the most part know which cards are not selling for maximum value and ones that I like.  I will try to bid the item up to the threshold I think I could re-sell it on Ebay for the next day.  Often times the seller makes way more then he would have because the winner of the item and I were the final bidders..  Even if I win no big deal I just buy the item and keep it or sell it depending on many factors.  Yes I stimulate the American economy for fun and on my free time.  An American hero I know.  Well someone should start a company that bids up items that they are experts on and takes a % of the spread on the additional money the item sells for or buys it and re-sells it.  I am sure this would in some way not be cool with Ebay.  I am also sure a good lawyer might be able to work something out.  I mean if you win the item the company would buy it outright and without attachment from the third party so a good argument for nothing wrong would seem there.  Oh well who knows it is just an idea.  Back to making people I do not know more money.

2.  Make a website that rates people.  I worked in the finance industry where ratings are a huge part of investment instruments.  Also selling on the internet like on Ebay and Amazon ratings are a huge part of the experience.  Even credit ratings are a huge basis for everything in America.  I think there should be a website where you can look up people that determines some type of rating.  Show there tro’s, bankruptcies, credit score, employment and tenancy history and just anything that would help determine the character of that person.  Come up with scaling and aggregation rating code and assign it to each person.  Also let personal testimonies form friends and acquaintances in, car purchase history etc etc.  I am sure this idea would be trouble as well so this will also probably be shelved just as an idea.

3.  I want to create an application for the I phone that feeds sports odds into the I phone and also sends a prediction or key news event or two.

4.  I once read about a website that let  people design t-shirts.  Then the public would vote on the t-shirt designs they liked.  The company would make the t-shirts then sell them and make a killing.  I always though why not do the same concept but with music.  This is much more practical.  Stay tuned ass  I will be putting up more of my practical business ideas soon.  Some of the above might have already been done and I am just behind and out of the loop who knows!!!!!!!!!

I will be putting up a new section in the best internet site page.  If you want to see any new pages or want any pages more frequently let me know and I will do so.  So the story behind this section is that I have this old old computer.  I think it is close to 7-8 years old.  I think in computer years this is like 90 (its like dog years) in the fact that this thing moves about as fast as my 90 year old grandmother and is falling apart just as quickly.  Like my grandmother I love the thing to death and feel like I could not live without it.  Well i am often looking for good freeware that can help clean and speed up my computer.  Well this stuff is hard to find.  I have found one so far that is legit and seems to work at least a  little.  If anyone of my readers knows of any other good ones please let me know:

FREE COMPUTER PERFORMANCE SOFTWARE:

http://www.ccleaner.com/

I am by no means a computer expert but this seems to clean up the internet files and some types of junk files on the main computer.  Seemed to work well for what it said it would do and it is free and easy to download so it fits right into what I am looking for.

If anyone else has any other good programs let me know.

Well we are going to get back to some yummy sports betting and I need to get my public record up.  We will start to look at NBA as there is now a good amount of information out on the season.  We will also look at specific games as usual but maybe we will try to get into some sports betting theory as well. Here is where we left off:

W/L (Wins/Loses) 5 -4 R/R (Risk/Reward Ratio) 10.58/9.55 Total Winnings 1

CHICAGO (11-12) -2 at CHARLOTTE (7-18)

PICK CHICAGO –2

Reasons Why:

-This will put Chicago at .500 and is a key win.

-They have a winning record against the bobcats.  They are the better team when they play.

-Chicago has gotten better and Charlotte has gotten worse.  Chicago is on a roll and the bobcats are faltering badly

-We will put my factory theory to the test and it says pick the bulls and we will look at the explanation below.

BET CHICAGO BULLS -2

When I was in finance a huge part of calculating risk and developing investment theory was reviewing the weighting various factors that would influence performance and decision making.  I would strongly believe that with the right attention and minds a similar model could be developed for sports betting.  I have recently been trying out various concepts on this type of idea and we will review an example below.  I basically just picked out factors that I thought would influence the outcome of a game.  I assigned them point spread values and then calculated it out for each team.  Chicago should win by three so betting them at -2 is the winner.  If anyone has any thoughts on adjusting the factors weights or adding factors let me know.  We will start tracking and tinkering with this stuff a lot more as well soon.

FACTORS:

Factor 1.  Better Record (Must have played 20 games and there must be a 3 game difference) = + 3
Factor 2. Home Team = + 3
Factor 3. Better Intra Team Record (Times they have played eachother in the last year) = + 5
Factor 4. Winning Home/Road Record = +/- 2

CHICAGO (11-12) -2 at CHARLOTTE (7-18)

Bulls = 3 + 3 – 2 (4)
Bobcats = 3 – 2 (1)

Chicago will win by 3 (4-1)
Please read my other past blogs as there are some gems and my pages as well.  Let me know what you want to see more of and expect a tone more writing, degeneracy and blogaments.  You never know what will be coming form this brain next.

I SUCK AT LIFE

December 12, 2008 by mfw1

I have a great past blog about busting thousand dollar bankrolls and once again I do not disappoint (a few of those went bye bye this week). You should go back and read my other posts if you have not as there are some gems.  Well I suck at life and my degeneracy does not disappoint.  With all things life I was on a roll for about ten days was sticking exceptionally close to the plan.  Well last Saturday it all started to unravel.  Since Saturday life has gone about like this.  Lost a bunch of money playing poker at the casino.  Then lost a bunch of money playing blackjack at the casino.  Then lost a lot of money playing online poker.  Then just generally drank, spent money frivolously and just did not care about much.  Well yesterday we had to put a stop to this madness and get back on track so here’s to lasting longer then ten days when trying to kick some of life’s pirates booty.  If life’s a bitch maybe I just need to take care of her better and shell change!  Well hopefully I have learned many new lessons and reminded myself of some old ones I already knew.  In all negative there is always a positive I believe and some of the positives over the last week included.  Hearing some great quotes at the poker table they were:

A guy talking to his friend in Nebraska on his cell phone:

“Yeah dog I’m in Cali and it’s warm.  Nebraska.  You in Nebraska?  It must be colder then a cole miners ass in Nebraska”

After a guy flops a full house and checks it all the way down this loud funny player with gold teeth and glasses says

“Son why are you searching for silver when you got a gold mine”

After this one glasses wearing older gentlemen who claimed he was a professional poker was playing a bunch of hands like j 4 off and just started getting killed and they started getting into it about professionalism and there was some banter and the younger kid says:

“Where did you learn to play poker wikipieda?  Chris Moneymaker sure has made a lot of monsters”

Older gentlemen says:

“You sure are funny”

kid says:

“Actually I am a comedian and you should come see me at the comedy club.  Bring some tissues and tampons.  Ill make my whole set just on you.  Guys like you make a thirty minute set feel like three minutes.”

There were many many other gems and I am sure they will come to me and I will post.  They are probably funnier in person because the characters and situations that set these things up are just soooo funny..

Well on another positive and something I have been trying to do for a long time is win out right a poker tournament with a respectable number of runners and payout.  It is always nice to get an email like this:

PokerStars Tournament #125327994, Pot Limit Omaha
Buy-In: $10.00/$1.00
234 players
Total Prize Pool: $2340.00
Tournament started 2008/12/09 14:30:00 ET

Dear,

You finished the tournament in 1st place.
A $479.70 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

I dominated the whole tournament and played great.  I went into the final table with something like 4/5 of the chips.  I was so happy with the win as it was a long time coming, truly deserved (nothing lucky) and in my favorite game pot limit omaha.  It took about 5 hours to win the tournament.  The bad news is, is that I busted that $500 + another $500 playing $5-$10 limit poker in about thirty minutes and then cried myself to sleep.  Good game Matt.  New lesson learned after a decent tourney score and 12 hours of playing don’t go straight back to the table and start playing high limit poker.  Well getting back on track here are the things in the works.

Update and work on my blog more- expect new and frequent updates, great writing, various useful resources and insights into the degeneracy of life that is in America.

Charity and giving stuff away-Getting rid of more stuff in the house to the goodwill and on craigslist for free.  Essentially just work on downsizing everything and having less stuff.  Less is more.

Not being a super donk-Not bleeding money off in games or at times when there is no reason to.  Think Chip Reese A game all the time.  Be a beast. A robot. A monster when it comes to running good at life.

Spend more time with family-They are coming up this weekend and were up last weekend so this should not be a problem.  I just need to be in a less degenerate mood.

No drinking-Never easy but a must.  Went well for a while but relapsed not too bad.  Back on track and all I can shoot for is better then last times hiatus and it should be no problem.

Read-Need to read more.  Was reading a lot but wavered over my degenerate last five days.

Write-Need to re-focus on writing my books.  They were coming along great but took a bump.  Now its time to re-grind back.

Work on my businesses and making money-There is so many ways this will be for a whole nother blog.

Eating better, exercising and being a better person are all on the list of things to do as well and are a constant pursuit.  Will be blogging a ton more soon so stay tuned.  My wife and I love jewelry.  Especially gold, platinum and diamonds.  In los Angeles there is one of the most amazing places in the world to buy jewelry called the diamond district.  My wife and I and my friends have spent very very large amounts of money with various dealers down there over the years and have some pretty nice hookups.  One of our more recent purchases was platinum custom basket set 1/2 carat yellow diamond earrings.  I will hopefully post pictures.  The point being that if any ballers are shopping for something nice for the holidays holla at my wife and I.  We are more then happy to take anyone on a tour of the district or work with them to have something made for there significant other.  We love designing and buying jewelry for other as much as we do for ourselves.  Hope every one runs good and I luve you all.  Happy Holidays and dont monkey spew.  Holla if the world needs anything.

MOVIE BINGE AND REPETITION

December 6, 2008 by mfw1

Well it is truly an amazing feeling not having to go to work everyday and listen to someone boss you around and force you to sit in some little box/cubicle all day.  I obviously want to work and certainly have to but while  I  am not I am truly enjoying the luxury that is freedom from work that I have not had in 7 + years.  Ahhhh. Sighhhhh and a million jumps of joy.  Well in the free time I am going on a movie binge and in the last three days have rented and watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall (pretty funny and decent plot and Russell Brand was better then expected after flopping the MTV awards – Please Note Mr. Brand bashing AMERICANS at a US iconic event is not the way we work.  Next my wife and I watched Meet the Brothers which was extremely funny but the plot was a little lacking.  I still probably liked this a little more then Sarah Marshall.  Last we watched The Dark Night (I do not not how but the guy at Blockbuster let us rent I guess early and so that was running good).  This movie was awesome and the acting and plot were great.  It was more complex then I thought it would be and will have to watch it a few more times.  I am not sure what we will watch next but hopefully it is something good (probably will take a movie break and get back to reading and writing solely for a few days + I think my family is coming up in which it will important to spend time with them as well – THE MOST IMPORTANT.  My reading is coming along great and I am almost done with my third book  CEO.  Exercising is non-existent but I am not drinking and staying semi active and not just lying in bed all day or something stupidly lazy like that.  I did drink once when smalls buffet had me over to watch the Spurs game on Thursday (had a blast THANKS SMALLS!) and I was off my game the next day which must not happen to often.  Well I must get focused back on writing my book and reading more.  Lots of job searching would help as well.  Lately I have been playing a lot of poker live and trying to work a little on my book business as well which are two ways to seem to keep a little money coming in.  I mention the word repetition because I am one of the those type of people that love routine.  Get up and know you are going to do x, y and z everyday and not much is going to change.  Well a few times in the past month I have gone to the casino at 3:30 pm and while driving I always see an old lady walking her granddaughter at almost the same place, a fruit stand guy is always talking on his cell phone on the corner and a handful of the same people will always be in attendance.  People doing the same things every day.  I always wonder if it is human nature to desire chaos or order.  The routine vs. the unknown.  Instinct leans me towards order and routine but who knows.  I do find myself saying the world is a crazy place more frequently lately however.  Well since I have been playing more live poker and am at the casino more often and since I play a lot of online poker as well I will post my top five reasons I suck at online poker and seem to do better at live poker.

Reason 1:

The money in live poker seems more real.  As crazy as this sounds because you are using chips which were designed specifically for the purpose of not feeling like money when it comes to poker the money live and at the casino just seems much more real and closer to my pocket then online.  I know that what chips I have live I can turn into cash instantly at anytime while online the money is hard to remove.  The money in my hand and in front of my face seems to be a huge winning motivator for me.

Reason 2:

Playing live poker seems more like work and a job.  To play live poker you have to drive somewhere, be on a set schedule as the games usually do not run well 24/7 and sit at another location to work.  Online you can play anytime and in the comfort of your own home.  Having to deal with going to the casino and all that goes with that seems like a big motivator in my winning.  When I can just lay around the house all day comfortablyly and never quit the threat of going bust or making bad decisions looms larger.  I can play 6 hours straight live before my sanity is usually into question and then even resting a few hours I can go back for another session playing my A game.  Online I can play 6 days straight or until bust with little thought of resting.

REASON 3:

The pace of the game is slower and it is so much easier to make clearer and more informed decisions.  First in live play the tells and ease to read peoples strength and hands is ridiculous ly easy compared to online.  Also it is much easier to know when to make moves live.  Online you can play multiple tables the cards and hands are dealt much faster and the players have more tools to use in there advantage to make correct decisions.  The rake online is much more voracious due to these factors as well.  I seem to win when all my decisions are well though out and I have a lot of information available to me and live lets me do this more so then online.

REASON 4:

Live poker is more enjoyable for me.  It is nice to be forced to get out of the house and go do something.  You get to meet and talk to tons of people (granted some you would rather not but hey thats the world and at the poker table if you want to be left alone you will and the ipod is a great invention).  In between hands I am also usually watching some type of sporting event and discussing it with people.  Food and drinks are at my beckon call and all the amenities needed to live are readily available. I can also get up and move around much more frequently and my actions (like clicking a mouse are not so forced). Online I often feel distant from the world and do not have as much fun just sitting in my room by myself staring at a screen all day.  I win live because I have more fun.

REASON 5:

I tilt less live.  When playing live it is much easier to tell when I am tilting or playing B or less game.  For many of the reason above I go on tilt less live as well.  Also online you take more bad beats (only because you play more hands) which always leads me to tilt more it seems.  Tilting less can really pad the bottom line.

Well those are a few of the reasons why I think I perform better live then online in poker and lets keep the winning continuing.  Well I will conclude by adding a new section to my top ten web link page.  For the x-mas season and in honor of getting your loved one a gift will include the top ten shopping sites.

TOP TEN SHOPPING SITES:

#1 SITE:  www.amazon.com

Great service and shopping experience.  Awesome product selection with many choices and options.  You can not beat the prices and the company on a whole is top notch.

#2 SITE:  www.ebay.com

The worlds biggest flea market.  This is where you can find almost anything and usually for a decent price.  Sometimes the rules are hard to deal with but such is life.

Well I will close by discussing a poker hand I just know I misplayed yesterday and this kind of stuff will destroy your bottom line.  So I am dealt the 8 6 of hearts.  The crazy raising Asian (this guy will raise with any two cards, has steamed off a lot of money already and claims he plays regularly at commerce and is young) raises to $8.  A solid playing middle aged middle Eastern man calls (he can play any two as well) but relies a lot on a solid post flop game and play much better then the youngster.  There is one more caller in front of me but I do not have much of a read on him as he is new to the game but he looks like and older weak player (these guys are a dime a dozen) and I call.  So there is $32 in the pot.  The flop is the 4 of clubs, 6 of diamonds and 4 of hearts (so 464).  Asian bets $4, Easty calls $4 and old guy calls $4 and I pop it up to $8 with a raise.  Not only do I truely think my hand is good here I want to see where I am at early on in the action.  Asian three bets to $12 Easty calls $12 and old guy folds.  I make a semi crying call but I really put both of these two nut jobs on overs with nothing but air right now.  Now going into the turn there is $72 in the pot a 9 of clubs peels off (so now the board reads 4649).  Asian checks.  Easty bets $8 and I somehow mind melt and convince myself I am beat, that crazy Asian is going to check raise and charge me $16 and somehow forgot odds and all that is fixed limit poker and fold to an $8 dollar bet into an $88 pot.  Asian calls and now he is heads up with Easty.  The river is a 6 and Easty bets and gets called and scoops with a q4 off.  I would have won a $100 + pot had I just called an $8 dollar bet.  Very poor play and I am blaming it on the fact that I was tired and this was near the end of my session and was a good warning to go home and evaluate the days play.

Expect more juicy writing and content, more analysis and more real talk and degeneracy.  Happy holidays to all my readers and holla if you need anything.

DONT SHOOT YOURSELF

December 2, 2008 by mfw1

Well the sports book crushed me once again. I broke even on the weekend but for my readers the pick was a no bueno. Well the public record is still in the black with a positive money shaking win ratio but the gap is closing and I need to start winning and start winning now. The record now reads:

W/L (Wins/Loses) 5 -4 R/R (Risk/Reward Ratio) 10.58/9.55 Total Winnings 1

As I always preach after a loss it is a good chance to take a few days off to study. In honor of my new page The top ten links for the internet in categories I am interested in (see my side pages) I will share with you some of my favorite sports betting websites to frequent.

#1 Link – www.vegasinsider.com

You will not be bale to win if you do not know the odds. This website is the best website I have found at displaying odds across casinos. Just hover the link of the sport of interest and then click on the Vegas odds link.

#2 Link – www.coverwire.com

I love to check this site for NFL and NBA pick tips. The picks are usually terrible but that just means we can bet opposite. The site is awesome for the data they report and always a fun look to see what there picking and to catch up on the latest news and betting patterns for each sport.

#3 Link – http://www.wagerline.com/

My favorite part of this site is the consensus links portion. This is a great place to check where the money is flowing and what the general public is thinking. A cool all around site with some great information for a sports bettor.

I will put some of the other ones I have up soon and as always any suggestions are always well received as well. I am posting this on my top 10 page so check back to that often as well.

I finished my last book and am now on my third book within two weeks. The last one was good and had some great motivational and improvement advice. To see what I am reading next and for a review of the last book and all other books I have read check out the reading page.

Well as discussed we will try to make the focus of this blog music as I hope to incorporate more music with my writing. I truly think music is a great blessing in the world and I almost do not know one human who does not like music. It is one of the few things that seems to be a part of every humans lives. I always wanted to be a singer or rapper but probably never really had the courage to try. It takes a special person and a special type of situation to really succeed in those areas. There is no shame in dreaming though. Below are some song lyrics I wrote (for this one think slow rock vibe) and hopefully soon I am going to try and record just the song idea. Lyrics go:

It’s in my mind

Now it’s in my head

I can’t shake this sickness

It wants me dead

So I’m fighting time

But time is kicking my ass

I want to be in the future, I should live by the moment but I’m fucking stuck in my past

And even if I knew what my future would bring

I should still live in the moment and not think about changing a fucking thing

If I only knew what I know now in 20 years

Would I be better off or filled with more tears

Because there’s an ocean in my eyes

Is time the truth or is it filled with lies

From perfect cadence and decadence

From porcelain plates to Silver spoons

I want to twist into the planets

And be lighted by the moons

So I guess we all should be wondering what in the heck was Plaxico Buress thinking. Has he not seen 8 mile? Did’nt we all learn a lesson from Chedder bob? My first thought was if I made 7 million a year (I repeat 7 million dollars a year) and I wanted to go to the club and I wanted to have a gun handy I would hire a gun handy man. My wife and I were thinking in New York you might even be able to find someone to protect you with a gun for free. Just to “roll big dig status” tot eh club. I mean call Fifty or Puff I am sure they could help a friend out in this type of sticky situation. I think we should come out with a new law called a CUI. Carrying under the influence. How swervy do you have to be to shoot yourself. Here is another thought put the gun on safety if you are going to do something this stupid. Oh yeah and there is the fact that he did it down the street from the head boss’ office Mr. Roger G. Lets see then he gave the wrong name to hospital, convinced them not to call it into the police and had his boy get caught up and dispose of the gun. 3 ½ years is a long time to get to know Michael Vick. The best part is of course he is going to plead not guilty and his money says he skate and walk. Although he did piss off mr Michael Bloomberg a man with much bigger bucks and the king of New York wants Plaxico prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. There is nothing gangsta about shooting yourself, then lying about it and then getting a lawyer and making up more stories in excuses. I guess we can all be glad that he did not hurt himself worse or anyone else. The Giants I am sure are thrilled. Another well paid and well behaved employee. I wonder if for 7 million you can buy a new brain (maybe on Ebay?). Paxico it’s time to break out the black American express and do some x-mass shopping.

To end I will give a quick update on all things life. Job hunting not so much (note to self get on this). Book writing going great but slower then I want. Writing is hard. Writing something great and to sell seemingly impossible but I will get this done and the book imo humble opinion is coming along great and will certainly be worth the price and the read. If anyone wants to buy action on the book please contact me. Don’t kick yourself in a year. Giving away stuff is going slowly but surely but I did give some stuff to the goodwill so that was great. Eating is going okay some times good and sometimes bad. I have defiantly cut out just the overall gluttony and over eating however and have not noticed a difference in energy and I do feel better. Still no drinking which is awesome!!!!!!!! I have also got some grand idea that I am going to trade my house to some lady for two condos down the street and downsize and sell one. Which save a place here in LA for me to stay and allow me to most likely move out to Vegas and buy a house to live and I am close to trying to set up this dream scenario. Go go go go go Matt. I will keep you posted on how all of my degeneracy goes, the blog will be updated regulary with the juice and as always holla if you need me.  I was also attempting to add on one of my favorite songs but can not figure it out ( the picture took me a few tries so we will see).  I got pictures, now hopefully music and then hopefully video!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

November 28, 2008 by mfw1

Well in the light of the darkest and scariest path I have ever walked I plan to splurge the mind with some lighthearted banter.  The thing I am most thankful for this thanksgiving is that I do not have to even think about drinking human piss for my job (I think I would quit if this were the case as well although going to work at my old job did feel allot like drinking human piss everyday in a more spiritually disgusting way however):

http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/behindscenes/waterrecycler.html

I try to be as earth conscience as possible but if they are doing this to my tap water I am switching to bottled water (and I even have a filter/purifier on my tap).  I mean what genius did nasa probably pay 6 + figures to dream up the idea to turn piss and sweat into water to drink (probably cost a lot more since they have been dreaming up this idea since the 1980’s and they have working position for – Bob Bagdigian, the Environmental Control Life Support System project manager at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.  I mean I am sure conservation in space is on a heightened scale but come on there must be other ways to save.  Also we have been going to space for many years so drinking water must not be that big of a problem.  This seems a little extreme.  If I was an astronaut I would resign.  I mean it is one type of human experience to piss next to your fellow man or woman at the great urinals and stalls that make up sporting stadium bathrooms but thinking you are going to go back to your seat and drink that persons piss as your water to sober you up would be a little spooky (and not in the Halloween sense).  A few days ago i read a follow up article that read the system was malfunctioning.  Great now you not only have to drink piss but have to worry if it was converted right or not.  I am not sure if nasa is run on taxpayers dollars but if so I wish we could spend the money on something different then turning piss into water.

Okay enough about that.  So the las vegas kid is of course in Las Vegas.  So lets look at the pick of the day and what I will be putting my money on.  Here is my current public record and pick.

W/L (Wins/Loses) 5 -3 R/R (Risk/Reward Ratio) 9.48/8.55 Total Winnings 2.1

Golden State (5-10) -11 1/2 at Cleveland + 11 1/2 (12-3)

PICK GOLDEN STATE –11 1/2

Reasons Why:

-Golden State is a good team proven by them almost beating the Celtics last game.  They can and expect to compete with the best teams in the league.

-Golden State plays the Cavs well on the road and matches up fine as  a team on a whole with Stephen Jackson and Corey Maggette and beat them the last time time they played the Cavs in Cleveland.

-The cavs have been resting Lebron a lot lately and this game should be no different.  They have also one a ton in a row at home (8) and should stumble soon.  Golden State has dropped three and are hungry for a win.

-A 11 1/2 points is a lot of points for any professional team to cover.  Betting the underdog in these types of situation should prove profitable in the long run.   At least your winning when the game starts!

I like the under on this game at 212 1/2.  But leave this degenerate betting up to me and play Golden State straight with points.

Well one thing I have never understood is why search engines do not have a top ten category link list or something (I am sure there is one out there that I just do not know about).  Well if anyone has noticed I have been making a few pages on top of my posts.  A cool page the my readers might want to keep checking back on will be a top ten category link page mostly starting with my interests and expanding from there.  So check out my various pages as they will be getting bigger and better.  The first top ten category I will create is PUBLISHING/WRITING A BOOK.  Since this is what I hope to be doing shortly this is what is the freshest research on my mind (still have a long way to go).  So here is a page preview:

PUBLISHING/WRITING A BOOK:

#1 Link – http://www.copyright.gov/forms ( http://www.wikihow.com/Copyright-a-Book)

These are the two links you will need when understanding how to copyright your work.  It does not matter how much you write, how great your works our, how much you publish or how on point your business is if it is not backed by a U.S. court it means nothing and in the end some can steal it. You must learn how to copyright your book/art or pay someone who does.

#2 Link – http://www.myidentifiers.com/

This is the company that creates ISBN’s and bar codes.  It is also the place retailers and distributors can find your works. It also has many various publishing affiliates and tools.  If no one can find you or sell your copyrighted work then enjoy watching it sit on the shelf or reading it by yourself.

#3 Link – http://www.authorhouse.com/

This is the best one stop for self publishing that I am aware of.  Although I have not used the majority of there services everything so far has been very professional.  I plan to use more and will provide updates.

If anyone has any suggestions for links in this category or to start another category on the page that will be created for this then let me know.

So a quick update on all things of focus in life:

Exercising – Has not been going at all.  I need to pick this up and if I can get to Vegas anytime soon it seems like the gym and workout situation would be way better for me there then in LA (as I am hoping to have one in the condo we initially rent for the first 6 months).

Reading/Writing – Writing is going great and my management book is flying along.  I still want to sell pieces of action on the success of this book so if anyone is serious about making an investment let me know and we can review the business plan and the product.  Reading has been going really well as well and also helps tremendously with letting my own writing flow.  I will finish two books this week and already have my third to read picked out (see my book page for details on this madness).

Eating – Eating has been going okay.  I have not been eating out or eating any fast food which is a huge improvement.  At home though I am still eating not so healthy frozen dishes and snack type foods.  This will hopefully change soon and as with all of life the change is on me.

Drinking – Perfect none.  Sometimes I feel that his makes up for the lack of exercise and not so great eating as this is ahuge healthy lifestyle improvement for me as I was probably drinking too much and not drinking for long periods of time has never been that easy for me.  I plan to keep the not drinking going for very solid as now everything is on the line and I need to stay sharp and focused.

Finding a renting tenant for the house until it can be sold is not going so well.  Working hard but no leads yet.

Giving and selling the majority of stuff in the house to most importantly become less materialistic and also to make the move much easier has stalled but I plan to intensify this today.  I will heat up by my second attempt to give away my sleeper sofa and I also want to sell this old lexus es250 that engine blew up and now sits in my driveway.  I owe like $600 on it still and would be willing to sell it for that.

Job Hunting – Will pick up on Monday.

Well as you can see it is back to updating the blog regularly with lots of new and exciting stuff coming.  So send me love or send me hate but most importantly just keep reading and tell your friends and the world mfw1’s blog is the goods and the nuts.  I plan to do the run hot in sports betting so another hot pick should be coming tomorrow for you my readers and to pad my bankroll being intensely guarded by the Las Vegas Kid.  Tomorrow I also plan to try and figure out if I can load music up on this thing and also share a song lyric or two of mine.  Stay real, happy reading and just holla at your boy!
