January 31, 2009

Well first sorry about the formatting/spelling. It will get better. Bear with me as I work
out the kinks as I am doing this mobile from my bustoed laptop and so is the life of a
degen.

Well can the clippers suck anymore. Marcus Camby and “B-diddy” should be embarrassed by
last nights performance. I mean to be even with the big boys at half and then to donk
lose by 17 points is ridiculous and you maybe should not be called professionals. Baron
and Marcus thanks for costing me booking a nice win and proving once again that the Clippers
are one of the most Monkeyish teams in the NBA. Still love ya and call me fellas we will
figure out something.

I went 3 for 5 and all my fans should have made some money as +1 units is a great day at the
office. Of course I broke evenish (thanks Clippers) because my winnings went into the super
bannana parlayments only to get owned. To boost the fan fare we are getting in the action
early tomorrow with some juicy juciy NHL.

I think Boston is just going to destroy the NY Rangers.

Bet Boston at around -130 ish

Then game two is a toss up between the head injury VS. the back injury.

I mean Henrik Zetterberg signs a 73 million dollar deal then hurts his back. He probably either
threw it out jumping for joy screaming I’m ritch bitch or bumbing two blondes in his penthouse
jacuzzi. Now Mr. Alex Ovechkinon the other hand got banged in the head which is no big deal
and he is laready used to the blondes so it is looking like advantage Capitals.

Bet the Capitals and I am not sure what the price is yet.

Hopefully the home teams will crush the early AM NHL.

Lets move to some strategy discussion which involves half time betting as a perfect scenario
came up yesterday that I missed. Yesterday I bet Boston at -6 and the half time spread was Boston
-3. So even split and no adjusted value. Now on the other hand I bet the silly silly Clippers
at +16 but the catch was the half time line was +8 1/2 giving us an extra 1/2 point of value.
Betting this is a great hedge and would have done wonders for my bankroll last night. You live
and learn and I will expand more on this topic later.

Last and off sports topic is a craigslist rant and goes out to all the renters in LA. Brought
up by the fact that I am trying to rent a room in my house and have been looking at the ads
on craigslist to do so. It is very expensive to rent on the west side and since it is near the
ocean in one of the best parts to live in the city the spaces and luxeries are limited. Well
people seem to think they are going to find a place for half price with every bell and whistle
imaginable. So here is to all the LOOKING FOR ROOM TO RENT ads that read:

Will pay $400 and need utilities included. Also need.
private/secured parking
washer and dryer
private bathroom
no noise
no over night guests except for mine
I work from home so will be there all the time using up the utilities
need garage/storage space
nice kitchen
fully frunished
allergic to dogs
have two cats
personal massuese
housekeeper
boyfriend is moving in
yada yada

I guess they want my life and my wallet to. Stop wasting your time with these ads please. A
prison cell costs more then $400 dollars a month on the westside of LA. END RANT (more to follow)

This is getting blogtastic. Updated daily (sometimes twice and thrice). Check back often!!!
NBA coming later today. Read the past blogs/pages to truly instill the wisdom that will change
the numbness of your mind forever. Hopefully today we will not be doing the break even snail
snicker dANCE. Live from LV home of UFC and the best super bowl parties on the daaaaaa planet.

WAL-MART VS. BEST BUY

January 30, 2009

well this blog officialy is coming from the free internet that my friends neighbor is so kind to transmit my way at his condo in Las Vegas NV.  The first order of the day as I
pondered my life over an ice cold Molson Canadian (from Canada +1, twist off +1, smooth light taste +1 – Molson is all right in my book) was to get a cheap DVD player so boredom would not set in as we stared at a blank tv.  First stop the local Wal-Mart, now I have not
been to a wall mart in a while but wholy wahwampwallawuhwooowahzam this place was crazy.
It had a HUGE grocery store, a nail salon, a Mcdonalds, banks, plus more then usual of the regular items and this was just what my eyes whisked a view at as we dashed to the dvd section
with our shopping blinders on.  Bought a few things (the Molson’s oh yeah) and purused the DVD players which were easy to find, had a nice selection and were reasonably priced. Of
coourse I get the bright idea to bargain shop and we skip over them and head off to Best Buy to compare.  Best Buy missed in all categories.  Higher prices (for the same product
2 seconds down the street), less selection (were even sold out of the one we like -not one was sold out at Wall Mart, etc etc.  It seemed like basicaly the business strategy of fast and cheap VS. flashy and expensive well we went Wall Mart as we will save the flashing
for the sports book.  Before we get to that we had to get lunch first.  Well we spotted this local sub sandwisch shop called Capriotti’s (702-558-9111 1146 W. Sunset Road Henderson NV).
Food was really good and certainly not your typical Subway or Quiznos sub.  Worth at least a try. Not blow your food pallate good but better then average for about the same price.
All right now lets get to the picks of the day and let the hard core betting and degening get underway.

I am really feeling the Boston VS. Detroit game.

I love the over on this game – Bet the over at 180 or less.
I love Boston in this game – Bet Boston with -6 or less.

I am really liking the Cavs vs. Clippers for the other early game.

I love the over on this game at 190 or less.
I also like the clippers at +15

Like the Lakers away at -6 as well against the T-wolves

I will be editing my blogs regulary with more analysis and betting as it comes in.  Off to the
bank then the sports book.  Will holla back shortly.  This is going to get Juicy!!!!

LAZY

January 29, 2009

Well since I planned on being lazy until getting to Vegas (only 1 more day!) I decided to steal some stuff from the web for this blog.

First the World Series of Poker schedule just came out:

http://www.cardplayer.com/tournaments/event_list/2582

I will be playing event #5 for sure and hopefully more.

The below I thought was a funny rant about poker/jobs:

Well for one I really need to be grateful to the fact that this insane whore of a game means that I dont need to wear a shirt and tie and get up at 700am. Grateful to the fact that this whore of a game means I have the free time to spend with family, friends, dog as much as I like. Grateful to the fact that this whore of a game means I have no boss, no lunch hour, no incoming urgent emails, no complaints, no sales targets, no dress code, no traffic, no staff meetings, no restriction on personal calls, no internet restrictions, no KPI’s, OSA’s, OH&S, RFW’s, PNR’s (I think I made some up), no written warnings, no verbal warnings, no phone ringing off the hook and a timer beeping at me telling me this person has now been waiting for longer than a minute oh my God we could lose the account if you dont answer the phone, just answer the phone, the phone. answer – Fuck you.

Last apparently there is some crazy old school pick up artist/comedy type stuff and here that is:

bloodninja- Ok baby, we got to hurry, I don’t know how long I can keep it ready for you.
j_gurli3- thats ok. ok i’m a japanese schoolgirl, what r u.
bloodninja- A Rhinoceros. Well, hung like one, thats for sure.
j_gurli3- haha, ok lets go.
j_gurli3- i put my hand through ur hair, and kiss u on the neck.
bloodninja- I stomp the ground, and snort, to alert you that you are in my breeding territory.
j_gurli3- haha, ok, u know that turns me on.
j_gurli3- i start unbuttoning ur shirt.
bloodninja- Rhinoceroses don’t wear shirts.
j_gurli3- No, ur not really a Rhinoceros silly, it’s just part of the game.
bloodninja- Rhinoceroses don’t play games. They f*cking charge your ass.
j_gurli3- stop, cmon be serious.
bloodninja- It doesn’t get any more serious than a Rhinoceros about to charge your ass.
bloodninja- I stomp my feet, the dust stirs around my tough skinned feet.
j_gurli3- thats it.
bloodninja- Nostrils flaring, I lower my head. My horn, like some phallic symbol of my potent virility, is the last thing you see as skulls collide and mine remains the victor. You are now a bloody red ragdoll suspended in the air on my mighty horn.
bloodninja- Goddam am I hard now.
bloodninja- Baby?

bet it up

January 13, 2009

Well lets get the ugly out of the way first.  I guess for now I totally suck at sports betting.  To make a winning public pick would be a miracle.  My record is looking an abysmal:

W/L (Wins/Loses) 5 – 7 Winnings -2

I have been so distracted lately with utter degenaness I have not been tracking my r/r ratio nor have I even been following the consensus pick of the day.  Also the consensus pick when I was tracking it (see past posts) was sucking it up.  So I guess bet against the people and the money is the lesson.  My picks and writing WILL pick up when I move to vegas and get down to bizness.  This can be looked at in two ways.  One I’m the cooler.  Two just bet against me the super donkey and you will win money! Ahhhhhhhhh the bright side :)   In better news and in the spirit of trying to never disappoint I have found another blog that seems to make sports predictions and good ones!  Check out the NBA picks from Sunday (3 for 3 with a push good game us!)

http://colmsum.com/

I also like how he breaks his bets out by sport on the left middle of the page.  Need to re-work my game.  Well I started another excerpt from my sports betting book.  Obviously it is only a start but it is a small section from a much larger body:

THE POOL IS NEVER FULL:

Many sports bettors and the average sports book railbird fail to realize the power of a quality sports pick across the layers of positive equity.  The opportunity value of a winning sports pick is an exponentially definable money making mass of firepower.  Looking at an example relative to the gambling world might help us better define how this can occur.

Lets say I am in a poker game and I know I have the edge.  I have a positive expected value when playing in the game and the stats are there in front of everyone to prove it.  It is a cash game.  I flop a straight flush and by the river nothing can beat me.  My opponent happens to have the nut flush and is eager to put all of his money in the middle.  The only money I can make on this sure thing is whatever my opponent has in front of him or is willing to risk on this specific hand.  The money that can be made is finite.  Only 100% of one side wins.  For sports betting the money can go in the middle a lot differently.

Before we get into sports betting however I know many of my poker playing brethren are probably thinking things like what about online multi-tabling.  Although in some unique situations poker players and others that make educated wagers for a living can on some scale and in a comparative degree maximize a single skill set holding positive equity spread within a single type of game.  Even still sports betting does not holding limitations such as players at the table, limit amounts, time costs etc.  Also depending on category definition the results of sports betting comparative to something that is less gamble and more research and knowledge similar to poker or even the stock market can be astronomic.

If you have a winning sports pick multiple people can play the same winning bet (hand) across multiple sports books.  There is no set amount in the middle of the pool to win.  The pool of money and winning opportunity is endless and never full enough.  Your opponent is not limited to a fixed and numbered entity.  In sports betting with enough creativity and the right strategy one can stand to make sizable amounts of money.

Well more writing and updates coming very soon.  As always read past blogs.  Check out the pages.  Let me know what you want to see more of!!!!!!!!  Also heard about the below website being good.  Have not had a real chance to check it out.

SPORTS GALORE

January 3, 2009

Well it is nice to blog batting 3 for 3 in the new year and I am happy to say things have been going well so far and I have been sticking to all my goals so far.  Still a ton of work to do and a lot of concerns to take care of which will plays themselves out right before our eyes in words and action.  Well I obviously suck at sports betting but thats okay.  I am working hard to get good and things will turn around soon.  I also started off very hot and will get back to those winning ways.  So the consensus theory seems like it starts off pointing to the non-public favorite.  Well for our pick for today we look at the consensus pick again (see previous post to read about the consensus theory) and as ugly as it is getting the public record.:

My public blog record so far:

W/L (Wins/Loses) 5 – 6 R/R (Risk/Reward Ratio) 12.78/11.55 Total Winnings -1

The consensus pick is the Indianapolis Colts at -1

NEXT GAME – Saturday Jan. 3, 2009
Matchup             Current Line/Total        Time
Indianapolis Colts     -1                          8:00 PM
San Diego Chargers     50.0

I also say pick the Falcons at -2.5.  So were picking the Falcons by -2.5 and the colts by -1.  If I get crushed I will move back to hockey as I was crushing when that was the focus of my early public picks.  Two picks for today to try and swing the public record into the positive.  Now for a few quick sports rants.

First diving in soccer should be banned.  In no American sport is diving allowed nor is it accepted or encouraged.  As a matter fact it is looked down upon and considered inappropriate.  Well soccer around the world seems to embrace or at the very least tolerate diving.  This is garbage and doing away with this would go along way in improving the sport.  Stop the phantom tackles that result in minutes of rolling around and looking like a bunch of phish out of the water that is respectable sports.  The best is when they cry and roll and grab and then seconds later are running and moving like a phuking Olympic athlete.  Stop the diving in soccer (or football if you want to call it that but I can assure in America no one is allowed to fake injuries or cry like they shot themselves like Plaxico without facing the wrath of fair and legitimate competition and the embarrassment of the media).  How to stop diving.  Harsher penalties (like automatic red cards) and review previous game tapes for blatant violations and issue multi game suspensions.

Now on to all this whining that is about the salary cap in baseball and how the Yankees are playing unfair and spending too much money.  First I think this is America where you should be able to spend your money any way you want as long it is legal (last time I checked hiring people for private companies and paying them whatever the boss likes is not and never will be illegal in America).  Second think if in America we stopped a company from progressing because we thought it was getting too good?  This is anti American (and yes I know about monopolies but comparing a baseball team with a lot of high priced talent that has not done or proven anything amongst 20 + companies that are doing just fine and actually profiting a lot off the 1 single company is a hard compare to a monopoly rather yet make that impossible).  Third since when in baseball did paying people a lot of money and having the “best talent” guarantee success or World Series rings.  As a matter of fact baseball is the one sport where it is most often seen that the team that was least expected or with very low payrolls are actually the teams that do the best.  So stop crying about salary caps in sports (I think they actually ruin them) and stop worrying about the Yankees and what they are doing.  I promise and yes you heard it hear first THEY WILL NOT WIN THE WORLD SERIES NEXT YEAR so who cares how much money they spend.

Finally with the power of these teams to spend all this money I want to say stop paying these guys so much money to do the things they do.  First how do these people work in a business where you can get paid millions and millions of dollars a year to not work.  There must be a better way and better place to spend or put that money.  Also 20 million a year to hit or pitch a baseball seems a bit excessive in todays times but hey what do I know.  Stephon Marbury can go jump in the LA river end rant.

Tried to throw down some more thoughts on charity below for my management book and look for excerpts from that book and as my tree of success keeps growing and I keep adding onto myself as well as the tree.

CHARITY

Charity is not always monetary giving and can come in many forms. If it is hours of our time, gifts of our wisdom or provision and access to resources charity is an important foundation to success. I hear all the time people state as the older they get the more they want to give. It is human nature to grow and be more successful (which occurs more often then not in humanity) and it is no coincidence the desire and ability to donate and promote charity heightens as success increases in our own personal and public lives. It is important to keep in mind that it is often hardest to give when we have little or nothing to share.

Reasons why charity contributes to success:

There is the feeling of compassion. It is a chance for humans to interact with humans in a time of struggle. It shows how working together and caring for other humans can translate into huge successes.

There is the presentation of positive opportunity. It is a chance for people to see how their own hard work can create a positive opportunity for somebody else. When our hard work means success regardless of our own personal definitions of success we learn there is a greater good in working for and helping others.

There is the understanding of sacrifice. Success does not come without sacrifice. Giving shows that sacrificing can move us in positive directions.

There is a chance for alternative situations. Charity teaches us to interact in social situations we might otherwise be unrelated or accustomed to. Success like charity requires us to move outside our comfort zones.

There is the realization that helping others actually helps ourselves. To be more successful we need to improve ourselves. We must also be growing, learning and improving. There seems to be a human consensus that giving to others actually gives even more to ourselves in life understanding and positive character enhancements. Making others successful makes ourselves successful and embracing this goes a long way in life.

Charitable things I am doing:

Once a month I try to look around the house and see what I do not need and gather a bag of donation items and give them to the Goodwill. I also run a small used book business that supports the Goodwill in many ways.

I judge and volunteer for the LMU business ethics fortnight and committee.

TWO FOR TWO

January 2, 2009

Well I am two for two on blogging in the new year and the heavy updates and new insights should be coming almost if not daily.  You have to love blogs that are updated frequently.  Well moving into the new year of course success is major focus and topic on all of our minds.  Well there many paths and definitions of success but there must be certain characteristics or traits we can develop and implement that will help guide and encourage our life success.  I have been trying to work on and utilize everyday a tree of success so far there are only a few branches and I am going slowly but surely to maintain a reasonable and maintainable rate of success.  I am also working on a visual version that should be up soon.  Below is what I have so far and what I have been concentrating on in the new year.  This will also be the beginning of a piece I hope to incorporate with my life management and success book I am working.

SUCCESS:

A key to remember when reviewing and implementing the below tree/plan/outline is that it takes patience and practice. It can be implemented and slowly and over time. It is a piece by piece by development process that will form into a complete package. It is a journey and not a race.

EXERCISE:

I have read many books on success and they often leave out exercise. I think exercise is one of the most important factors to life success.

Reasons why exercise contributes to success:

-There is the testing of limits. Diligent and effective exercise teaches and requires you to push yourself beyond comfort levels.

-There is the formation of structure. Diligent and effective exercise teaches and requires you to form a schedule and follow a plan.

-There is the conditioning of the physical body. Diligent and effective exercise teaches and requires you to improve and maintain more empowered physical conditioning allowing for a higher level of life performance when facing physical demands.

-There is the building of positive results. Diligent and effective exercise teaches and requires you to reach for and gain positive results thus increasing the understanding of what it takes to move in positive directions. I have not seen a scientific study or written article claiming that exercise when done right has a negative impact on human existence.

-There is the improvement of health. If you are not healthy it becomes hard to enjoy anything in life.

What exercises I incorporate in my life:

There should never be a reason or excuse why we can all not take a little time each day to do some form of exercising. Exercising can be free, quick and done in a variety of places and ways.

Stretching:

Stretching is a great form of exercise and something very easy to do and that can be done everywhere. Tips I have learned about stretching are to do it very slow. Do not bounce. The movements should be calculated and controlled. You should feel the burn/work without ever jeopardizing straining a body part. Each stretch try to clear your mind, focus on the specific task and maintain balance and control. Push yourself to stretch farther within your limits. Monitor your progress and consistently stretching everyday for a month or two should reveal significant progress.

Stretches I am doing:

Toe Touches – Sitting and standing. Either sit or stand and slowly try to touch your toes. Stretch as far as your body will allow. Do this four times a day for 8-12 seconds per time/stretch.

Well since I have been stinking it up in sports betting in my public record which now stands at even:

W/L (Wins/Loses) 5 – 5 R/R (Risk/Reward Ratio) 11.68/10.55 Total Winnings 0

I am also now writing sort of a beginners guide and sports betting theory book and here is a piece of the introduction with a simple theory to follow and an excerpt of the book.  As I just started tracking this theory I will hopefully be posting the pick daily and tracking it in a spreadsheet (if anyone wants it).  We will also make it my pick of the day for today since obviously my sports betting factor model needs tweaking (see past post).  So here it is:
PICK:

I love to gamble. My favorite type of gambling is on sports. Sports can at times be life’s shadow. This is an American pastime. Forget statistics but taking a poll of my male friends (and this is a biased bunch) ALL of them wager or have wagered on sports. It might be once a day, more likely a few times a year, possibly once in their lives but amazingly and addmitingly this is a true fact. Sports betting is alive and well in America. Statistics or not (don’t make me fetch them) it is almost undeniable that sports betting is prevalent in the world. Sports betting can provide all the provocative allure of a new love interest while constantly reminding us of the harsh realities of life. It’s sometimes like being in a womb where everything feels so nice but you just know you have to come out sometime from that beautiful hole to see some fucked up shit. Regardless and aside from my personal thoughts sports betting is a long standing global tradition among humans that will never die as long as competition exists.

For centuries people have wagered on the outcome of sporting events both for pleasure and profit. Sports are entertaining, unpredictable and like buying stock, placing a sports bet with little information allows the money risk to hover around 50-50 with a cost associated with the risk. Betting on sports or buying a stock without doing research is essentially like flipping a coin for the same amount of money. The winning or losing result is predicated by an unknown future event.

EVERY SPORTS BET MEANS SOMETHING:

THE CONSENSUS THEORY:

Sports often mimics life. Important to the foundation of America and the basis of many a rule consensus is a tool coveted by many. There is no reason why we should not take advantage of this when making sports bets. As I have always maintained the beauty of sports betting is it either goes one way or the other. For life’s decisions the consensus is usually followed until a new consensus or overpowering smaller entity is formed to prove otherwise. As is our choice however we can go against the wind. The question is can the people be right? The best way to determine this is to form a method of tracking in a reasonable manner how well betting with the consensus fairs. This is also a useful tool that allows us to aggregate and utilize the brains and work of hundreds if not thousands of other people with very little effort. Using this theory/method is a great introduction into the world of sports but also something that should be being tracked and used by seasoned professionals as well. If you do not believe the people are right then simply just use the same method and bet against it.

How I implement the consensus theory. The first goal is to find reliable and trustworthy consensus sources. This will allow us to research what the general public is thinking and also to formulate some type of patterned consensus research.

The first place I start is www.vegasinsider.com. On the middle right hand side of the home page they have something called “TODAY’S TOP BETTING TRENDS” [provided by www.sportsbook.com]. I then open also the website www.wagerline.com. On the middle right hand side of the home page they have something called “TOP CONSENSUS PICKS”. I cross compare the two sources and what ever game/pick is matched highest across sites is the game that is the consensus or bet of the day for this theory/play. I am looking for a third source to use when cross comparing and will update the equation when I decide on something I like. I think three sources will allow for a diversification of biased risk analysis and should provide a clear example of the consensus across the days wagers.
